The National BIM Library is now live.
27 March 2012
To coincide with the launch of the new BIM enabled specification tool, ‘NBS Create’ at Ecobuild 2012 last week, the first phase of the National BIM Library has gone live and is available for free download.
Visit the National BIM Library website for access to free generic BIM content
BIM Academy are proud to be involved with this initiative which will provide a generic, UK based library for practices and companies adopting BIM.
The first release of content can now be downloaded from the browser based library which includes BIM objects for use with ArchiCAD, Bentley, Revit, Tekla and Vectorworks. All content is also available in IFC format and comes with supporting guidance to aid users.
BIM Academy joined NBS, Software vendors and buildingSMART at Ecobuild for the press launch last week
An emphasis on the ‘I’ in BIM is key to the development of the library which hosts parametric information for COBie and IFC, as well as other useful information used throughout the design process, construction and lifecycle of a building.

BIM Academy partners with NBS to create National BIM Library.
6 September 2011
BIM Academy are delighted to be working with NBS on this exciting initiative. With the rapid escalation in BIM adoption over the last few years, there is now a compelling need for consistency in library content and quality. Equally important is the need for these libraries to be available in all common software formats, structured to suit UK construction practice and linked more closely to specification data. We look forward to applying our industry experience and expertise in IFC classification and BIM technologies to help NBS realise this ambition and deliver real efficiencies to the industry through the National BIM Library.

Clarify how BIM impacts on all professionals involved in the construction industry
Give a clear picture of levels of adoption within the industry
Review evidence from industry demonstrating the benefits
Give an overview of the technologies involved and their interoperability
Provide an overview on the management of a project using BIM
